Creating a New Report

There are two options when you decide to create a new report. Option one is to use the WIZARD and option 2 is to use the NEW button.

Both options create a new report and open it in the report designer where the users can refine the report design..

The Wizard will create the report and place selected fields in bands based on question answered in the wizard. The upside is you can create a very designed report in a matter of minutes.  The downside is the wizard will automatically create the complex SQL string every time the report runs.  Some users would prefer the full editing of the SQL statement. If this is the case then they need to use the NEW icon.

The New report button allows users to create a report based on a singular SQL statement which returns data from the ACT database. Some users are very happy with this SQL statement while others advanced users edit it.  See editing the SQL statement using the Query Builder.
